Summary: Ryan is driving on a restricted licence when his car hits Tara. She ends up in hospital suffering from a head injury, while Ryan must come to terms with his guilt and fears. Keen to make amends Ryan becomes involved in Tara's physiotherapy and gets to know her friends.

David Hill (born 1942) is a New Zealand author, especially well known for his young adult fiction. His young fiction books See Ya, Simon (1992) and Right Where It Hurts (2001) have been shortlisted for numerous awards. He is also a prolific journalist, writing many articles for The New Zealand Herald.

Hill attended Victoria University in Wellington. In 2010, he participated in the International Writing Program at the University of Iowa. In 2015 his title The Red Puppy made the New Zealand Best Seller List.
