Summary: The great wave destroyed everything, leaving Mau as the sole surviving member of the Nation. It stranded Daphne on his island, for from 'civilization'. When they first meet, there are misunderstandings, but when Daphne stops trying to shoot Mau (she did apologize), they discover that a different kind of home can be theirs together. When very bad people arrive, it becomes clear that Daphne and Mau must fight for what they have built and in doing so change both their worlds forever.
